Viewer
Summary of change
Ability to load more data
and at twice the speed using Light Load / Full Load import options. View percentage
area split of Themes / total num of features in a theme via the new Theme Statistics
tool. Increased import performance via a new parser. New Tool Bar option to
zoom to extent of data loaded. New Release Note dialog.
Bug Fixes since Release
v1-0
- Stop exception being
thrown when an Unload action is performed whilst the map is redrawing
Enhancements since Release
v1-0
- Light Load and Load
Options menu added. Light Load reduces the amount of memory needed for each
feature, and therefore increase the number of features you can load. By using
light load you can load approximately twice as many features as with a Full
Load.
- Theme statistics tool
added to the Tools pulldown menu. This statistics table shows the number for
features by theme and geometry type. When using Full Load the total area and
area percentage per theme is also added to table.
- Lat Long coordinate tracking
added to the Status Bar (accurate to 5m). User can also centre the current
Map View to a Lat Long position specified in degree minutes seconds
- New XML parser added.
Performance stats for the new parser show a speed increase to 1900 features
/ sec performing a Full Load on a 1Ghz PC.
- Zoom to Map Extent tool
added to the Tool Bar. Using this tool the current MapView will zoom out to
the extent of the loaded data
- Stop Redraw tool added
to the Tool Bar. Using the this tool all redraws currently occuring on any
MapView will be stopped
- Release Note dialog added.
This dialog appears everytime a new release is run for the first time. Users
can dismiss the dialog so that its never show again
Known Issues
- Some users are finding
it difficult to view very dense urban areas of OS MasterMap ordered in 5X5km
chunks (urban 5x5km OS MasterMap chunks can contain over 1 million features).
Snowflake's OS MasterMap Viewer uses a memory model to store all loaded features,
therefore, performance and load capacity is very much dependent on the amount
of memory available. Apart from buying more memory, you can increase capacity
by increasing your operating system swap file space (see the FAQ on how to
do this) or utilising the new Light Load option. As always to free up more
memory try closing other applications. The more free memory you have the more
data you can view.
