Snowflake Software has updated and improved its free software for viewing OS MasterMap®. First launched in 2001, the award-winning viewer has already been downloaded by more than 2,000 users wanting to view OS MasterMap.
The updated viewer provides improvements in both functionality and performance. A significant enhancement is the ability to view all the latest layers within OS MasterMap, including the Address, Integrated Transport Network and the upcoming Integrated Transport Network 2. Road, Route and Restriction data can now be viewed as the new viewer supports building feature references to access non-spatial OS MasterMap objects.
Performance wise, the new version offers faster load performance and improved attribute browsing, where greater memory efficiency supports viewing of more data. The viewer is also compatible with the latest version of Java and available in a new standalone installer.
Eddie Curtis , Chief Technical Officer at Snowflake Software said:
"Our free Viewer has already proved extremely popular and has given many people their first view of OS MasterMap. We are very happy that it has been universally adopted with users in small firms and local authorities just as likely to use it as those in government and multinational businesses. We were delighted that the first version was listed by Sun Microsystems in its Swing Sightings web gallery due to its high quality graphical presentation, and these latest developments will provide users with faster access to more data-sets."
